Where is Tamarindo?

Tamarindo is a beachfront town on the upper part of the Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Nearby communities include: Playa Flamingo, Brasilito, Playa Grande, Avellanas and Playa Negra.


How do I get to Tamarindo

You can reach Tamarindo from either of Costa Rica’s International Airports. From SJO: 4 hours by car or shuttle. 50 minutes via domestic flight into the Tamarindo airport. From LIR: 1 hour by car or shuttle. 15 minutes via domestic flight into the Tamarindo airport.


Can you drink the water in Tamarindo?

Tap water in Tamarindo is generally safe for drinking, though bottled water is recommended for those with sensitive stomachs.


What time zone is Tamarindo in?

Tamarindo is in Central Standard Time (CST), from November through March; and Mountain Standard Time (MST) from March through November. This is due to Costa Rica not observing Daylight Savings Time. Costa Rica is -6 GMT.
